Papers stated that<lb/> Smith had refused the appeal<lb/> to the House of Lords. And I counted on it so much. I am<lb/> anxious to see you both. I have<lb/> had a most affectionate, though<lb/> sad letter from Sir Roger<lb/> We must redouble our prayers<lb/> Can I see you both tomorrow<lb/> any time<unclear>?</unclear> With a blessing<lb/> to you and yours. <salute>Ever yrs Sincerely</salute><lb/></p> <p>E.F.
