<lb/>INTERMEDIATE EDUCATION BOARD FOR IRELAND <lb/>EXAMINERS' RULES <lb/><p>THE INTERMEDIATE EDUCATION BOARD FOR IRELAND, in pursuance <lb/>and by virtue of the "Intermediate Education (Ireland) note 1878 <lb/>to 1913" and of every other power them thereunto enabling do <lb/>hereby, with the approval of Their Excellencies the Lords Justices <lb/>General and General Governors of Ireland, determine as follows: —</p> <p>(1) There shall be two classes of examiners, <sic>viz</sic>: — <lb/>(a) Advising Examiners, and <lb/>(b) Examiners</p> <p>(2) There may be advising examiners in each or any of the <lb/>following subjects:- Greek, Latin, English, Irish, French, German, <lb/>Algebra, Geometry and Science.</p> <p>(3) The advising examiners shall be appointed in the first <lb/>instance for one year, by may be appointed afterwards for four <lb/>years more.</p> <p>(4) The remuneration of each of the advising examiners will be <lb/>£100 a year.</p> <p>(5) The advising examiners, except in Science, shall set all <lb/>the examination papers in the above subject.</p> <p>(6) The advising examiner in Science shall set such examina- <lb/>tion papers as the Board may determine.</p> <p>(7) The advising examiner in Science shall revise all the <lb/>papers of questions in Science.</p> <p>(8) The advising examiner in Science shall confer with each ù <lb/>of the examiners in Science before the marking of answer books <lb/>begins.</p> <p>(9) The advertising examiner in Science shall confer with each <lb/>of the examiners in Science before the marking of answer books <lb/>begins.</p> <p>(10) Advising examiners may be required to attend conferences <lb/>with examiners at the Office.</p> <p>When a saving to the Office may thereby be effected, <lb/>advising examiners may be required to attend conferences with <lb/>examiners at places other than Dublin in which case, in addition <lb/>to the expense of locomotion, they may be granted a subsistence <lb/>allowance of £1 for each night of absence from home.</p> <p>(11) In all cases where answers from competing candidates are <lb/>marked by more than one examiner, each examiner shall submit the <lb/>marking of the first twenty at least of the answer books assigned to him <lb/>to the advising examiner or the examiner who sets the papers <lb/>in the subject and the Assistant Commissioners for consideration <lb/>and the advising examiner or the examiner whi sets the papers shall, <lb/>from time to time, take such steps as he thinks desirable to secure <lb/>uniformity of standard in the marking.</p>
