<p>suspected so we have felt <lb/>wonderfully secure. <lb/>Portobello Bridge was a <lb/>terrible place last Monday. <lb/>We hear the poor soldiers <lb/>thought they were in France <lb/>when they landed at <lb/>Kingstown & could not under. <lb/>stand hearing England <lb/>spoken.</p> <p>It was extremely difficult <lb/>to get into Dublin yesterday. <lb/>Some could only get a <lb/>3 hours pass with difficulty <lb/>it was a very good <gap/> <lb/>It is quite different today & <lb/>there are actually private <lb/>motor cars & cabs going <lb/>about. of course we <lb/>have had no trains or <lb/>anyway of <gap/> <lb/>since Monday.</p> <p>We have no news of Charlie <lb/>&<unclear>Cherrie</unclear> <unclear>Swindon</unclear> if <gap/> <lb/>is quiet.
