<hi rend="underline">COUNTIES OF ANTRIM AND BELFAST</hi> <address><Crown Solicitors Office, <lb/>30 Rosemary Street, <lb/>Belfast</address> <address>Henry A.Wynne Esq., <lb/>Chief Crown Solicitor, The Castle, Dublin.</address> <date>23rd June, 1916</date> <note>Rex v Ellen Davidson, <lb/>of Taughey, Ballymoney <lb/>Separation Allowance <lb/>fraud</note> <salute>Dear Sir/</salute> <p>This case came before the Magistrates <lb/>at Ballymoney on the 19th. instant when I <lb/>produced the following witnesses:- <lb/>Mr. McAfee J.P. To prove defendant's signature: <lb/>Mr. Warnock. Pension Officer to prove the sub- <lb/>stance of his interviews with the defendant: <lb/>Mr. Hackett. a farmer, and Mrs. Margaret <lb/>Graham wife of a farmer, both of whom <lb/>resided immediately adjoining the residence <lb/>of the grandmother of the soldier. I also <lb/>produced for the prosecution the grandmother <lb/>of the soldier, and these last three witnesses <lb/>proved conclusively that sometime prior <lb/>to 12th. July 1915 in consequence of a quarrel <lb/>with his stepfather the recruit had gone to <lb/>live with his grandmother whose residence <lb/>was about a mile from the residence <lb/>of the defendant. That he resided continuously <lb/>with the grandmother from that time to the <lb/>date of his enlistment on 1st. Decr.1915.</p> <p>That from time to time he visited his <lb/>mother, the defendant, but always slept at <lb/>the grandmother's house, and resided continously <lb/>for these six months with the grandmother. <lb/>The grandmother also proved that he got <lb/>his food in her house and that he allowed <lb/>her so much of his wages as he didn't need <lb/>for his own personal use.
