Con Colbert – second episode of the 1916: Seachtar Dearmadta series on TG4


The second episode of the TG4 series 1916: Seachtar Dearmadta was aired yesterday – it was a story of Con Colbert. It will be repeated on Saturday, 16.11 @ 20.00. Click here to watch it online.

Con Colbert was born in Limerick on October 18th, 1888 and was executed in the aftermath of the 1916 Easter Rising in Kilmainham Gaol on May 8th.

He was a major player in Na Fianna Éireann and was also a member of both the Irish Volunteers and Irish Republican Brotherhood. During the Rising Colbert was commander of the F Company 4th Battalion.
He surrendered his unit alongside Éamonn Ceannt on April 30th.
